On 13 December 2024 a national Multiplier Event took place at Dublin City University (Dublin, Ireland) on the topic Cultures of Early Childhood Education: connecting the local and the global. 

Through this event, RECOdE project results were presented to a multi-professional and multidisciplinary audience in a fast-evolving early childhood system. Ireland is unique in the sense that it is currently undergoing a rapid transformation from a (perceived!) homogenous to a multi-cultural society. Inter-cultural issues that are evident on a global scale play out at the local level of the every-day practice of early childhood settings.

The event commenced with an introduction of Prof. Matthias Urban (ECRC-DCU), who presented a series of reflections on these topics and initiated the conversation. Subsequently, a presentation of the RECOdE project and its results was given. The event was preceded with a panel discussion focusing on the event’s main theme, featuring Anne-Marie Brooks (DECDIY), Colette Murray (TU Dublin/PLÉ), and Valerie Gaynor (Creative Kids). Finally, a World Café session was held with all participants, addressing Critical Cultural Awareness in Higher Education and Early Childhood Education and Care.
